SB 4.1 Genealogical Table of daughters of Manu

1-7: Genealogical line of Äküti

  1.  Enumerate the descendants of Äkuti. 
    1. Yajna and Daksini.They are Lord Vishnu and Lakshmi , so even if they appeared as children of Akuti their eternal relationship cannot be changed.
    2. They got married and had 12 sons who become demigods and were known as tusitas
    3. Their names were Toṣa, Pratoṣa, Santoṣa, Bhadra, Śānti, Iḍaspati, Idhma, Kavi, Vibhu, Svahna, Sudeva and Rocana.

      1. A sonless person may offer his daughter to a man in marriage with the condition that the son born of the union would be returned to him as a son.

      1.  Brahma-varcasvé - one who follows the brahminical principles and duties very rigidly

      1. compared to Laxmi and Narayan
      2. Both are satisfied with each other - this results in good progeny and wealth

  1. Vibhinnamsa - part and parcel of the Lord but jiva tattva who can be in different modes
  2. Svamsa: Part and parcel of the Lord but Vishnu Tattva


5. Write SP’s comments on Atri’s desire to have a son like the Supreme Lord (20P).

  1. His desire was material becauae he wanted a child like the Suprme Personality of Godhead and not the Supreme Personality of Godhead Himself as his child.
  2. If he had the latter desire he would be considered as a pure devotee, but because he did not esire the Lord to be his child but get a son like the Lord his desire was material

6. Summarize the devatäs’ prayers unto Naranäräyaëa Åñi along with salient points from the purports. Quote 4.1.57 so ’yaà sthiti…

  1. They glorified the SPG who has appeared as Nara Narayana Rsi as the origin of all varieties of material nature.
  2. Since the Lord was the cause of all causes and of the origin and dissolution of the material nature they prayed for His merciful glance on them.
