3. WBN on Anger and its effects (19-20P).
Because of anger Daksa forgot his position and he acted in an unpardonable way towards Lord Siva.
Lord Siva's followers affected by Daksa's anger and cursing towards Lord Siva also got angry and then the unending entanglement of cursing and counter-cursing started and thus many offenses were committed against great personalities by great personalities.

Thus when one forgets his constitutional position and gets covered by illusion there is a great potential one gets angry when their lust is not satisfied. It results in vaishnava apradha which is a major setback to our spiritual lives.

On the other hand Lord Siva did not get affected by Daksa's cursing and remained peaceful.

    • He cursed Daksa to have a goat head since he had forgotten his spiritual identity as part and parcel of Krishna and was attached to sex life.
    • He cursed Daksa and his followers to remain in repeated birth and death with attachment to fruitive activities
    • Cursed them to lose discrimination and perform austerities etc only for maintaining he body and eat without discrimination and not have a spiritual goal.

5. Summarize Bhrgu’s curses to Lord Siva’s followers.

  • He cursed the folowers of Lord Siva to
    • become atheists
    • be attracted to Mayavada philosophy
    • addicted to wine, women and flesh
    • take shelter of rules that help in cheating religion

 6. WBN on:
 (i) Brähmaëas in Kali-yuga (26P)

  • They will not be interested in understanding the SPG

SB 5.4.14 to 5.5.5

  1. Write the flow of the first 5 teachings of Lord Rsabhadev.
    1. One should not waste the human form of life in sense gratification which is also available to the animals.Instead one should live a life of austerity and penance to attain pure devotional service. By this one's heart gets purified and one is situated in bliss much greater than what is possible by sense gratification
    2. To attain relief from material bondage one must serve the advanced devotees - they are equipoised, see everyone equally and work for the benefit of everyone. But if we associate with people attached to women and sex then the path to hell is wide open
    3. Always o things connected to Krishna. Avoid association with those who are attached to eating, sleeping , mating and defending. Also avoid attachment to home and family life without being indifferent to the execution of your grhastha ashram duties.
    4. We should not involve ourselves in sense gratification as that will give us a new body. We want to stop the cycle of repeated birth and death because of our desire to enjoy sense gratification.
    5. We must enquire about the spiritual values of life else we will be afflicted by material miseries. IF we do not our mind will remain impure and consciousness will be unclear.

  1. Write Verse and Translation 5.5.1 näyaà deho… WBN on the importance of human life (1P).
    1. Prabhu I copied the verse and translation
      1. ṛṣabha uvāca
        nāyaṁ deho deha-bhājāṁ nṛloke
        kaṣṭān kāmān arhate viḍ-bhujāṁ ye
        tapo divyaṁ putrakā yena sattvaṁ
        śuddhyed yasmād brahma-saukhyaṁ tv anantam
      2. Lord Ṛṣabhadeva told His sons: My dear boys, of all the living entities who have accepted material bodies in this world, one who has been awarded this human form should not work hard day and night simply for sense gratification, which is available even for dogs and hogs that eat stool. One should engage in penance and austerity to attain the divine position of devotional service. By such activity, one’s heart is purified, and when one attains this position, he attains eternal, blissful life, which is transcendental to material happiness and which continues forever.
    2. Brief note on the importance of human life:
      1. Human life one is blessed with the intelligence to discriminate between matter and spirit unlike animals.
      2. Therefore we must not waste our human form of life in activities of eating, sleeping, mating and defending, we must use our intelligence properly and cultivate higher spiritual values and live them.
      3. One must avoid sense gratification for the further propagation of bodies and rather one must live a life if austerity and penance immersed in service to Krishna.
      4. Austerities with a desire to please Krishna purifies the heart and makes it fertile to accept loving pure devotional service to Krishna
  2. WVT 5.5.2. mahat seväm… Describe the path of liberation and the path of hellish life (2P).

        1. mahat-sevāṁ dvāram āhur vimuktes
        2. tamo-dvāraṁ yoṣitāṁ saṅgi-saṅgam
        3. mahāntas te sama-cittāḥ praśāntā
        4. vimanyavaḥ suhṛdaḥ sādhavo ye
      2. One can attain the path of liberation from material bondage only by rendering service to highly advanced spiritual personalities. These personalities are impersonalists and devotees. Whether one wants to merge into the Lord’s existence or wants to associate with the Personality of Godhead, one should render service to the mahātmās. For those who are not interested in such activities, who associate with people fond of women and sex, the path to hell is wide open. The mahātmās are equipoised. They do not see any difference between one living entity and another. They are very peaceful and are fully engaged in devotional service. They are devoid of anger, and they work for the benefit of everyone. They do not behave in any abominable way. Such people are known as mahātmās.
      3. Brief note:
        1. Path of liberation focusses on sat- the eternal, the spiritual, the Suprme Personality of Godhead and it can be achieved by associating with sadhus
        2. Path of hellish life focusses on aasat, the temporary, the material, objects of sense gratification and it is surely achiveed by associating with those attacehd to bhoga and aisvarya.

Preaching: Compassion and Your Example

 SB 4.29.1b

If a living entity is developed in Kṛṣṇa consciousness and is merciful to others, and if his spiritual knowledge of self-realization is perfect, he will immediately attain liberation from the bondage of material existence.

Purport:
In this verse the words dayā jīveṣu, meaning “mercy to other living entities,” indicate that a living entity must be merciful to other living entities if he wishes to make progress in self-realization. This means he must preach this knowledge after perfecting himself and understanding his own position as an eternal servant of Kṛṣṇa. Preaching this is showing real mercy to living entities. Other types of humanitarian work may be temporarily beneficial for the body, but because a living entity is spirit soul, ultimately one can show him real mercy only by revealing knowledge of his spiritual existence.

  1. Preach to make advancement in self realization
  2. But preach what?- Preach this knowledge after perfecting himself and understand his own eternal position as a servant of Krishna.

Bhakti dissolves the subtle body of the living entity - aham tvam sarva papebhyo

SB 3.25.33

jarayaty āśu yā kośaṁ
nigīrṇam analo yathā
Word for word:
jarayati — dissolves; āśu — quickly; yā — which; kośam — the subtle body; nigīrṇam — things eaten; analaḥ — fire; yathā — as.
Translation:
Bhakti, devotional service, dissolves the subtle body of the living entity without separate effort, just as fire in the stomach digests all that we eat.
Purport:
Bhakti is in a far higher position than mukti because a person’s endeavor to get liberation from the material encagement is automatically served in devotional service. The example is given here that the fire in the stomach can digest whatever we eat. If the digestive power is sufficient, then whatever we can eat will be digested by the fire in the stomach. Similarly, a devotee does not have to try separately to attain liberation. That very service to the Supreme Personality of Godhead is the process of his liberation because to engage oneself in the service of the Lord is to liberate oneself from material entanglement. Śrī Bilvamaṅgala Ṭhākura explained this position very nicely. He said, “If I have unflinching devotion unto the lotus feet of the Supreme Lord, then mukti, or liberation, serves me as my maidservant. Mukti, the maidservant, is always ready to do whatever I ask.”
Other Similar Purports:

From SB 4.29.70
No living entity is free from the cycle of birth and death unless he takes to Kṛṣṇa consciousness; therefore, in this verse, it is clearly stated (sattvaika-niṣṭhe) that when one is fully absorbed in Kṛṣṇa consciousness, in one stroke he is freed of past and future mental desires. Then, by the grace of the Supreme Lord, everything becomes simultaneously manifest within the mind. In this regard, Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura cites the example of mother Yaśodā’s seeing the whole cosmic manifestation within the mouth of Lord Kṛṣṇa. By the grace of Lord Kṛṣṇa, mother Yaśodā saw all the universes and planets within the mouth of Kṛṣṇa. Similarly, by the grace of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Kṛṣṇa, a Kṛṣṇa conscious person can see all his dormant desires at one time and finish all his future transmigrations. This facility is especially given to the devotee to make his path clear for returning home, back to Godhead.

Why we see things not experienced in this life is explained herein. That which we see is the future expression of a gross body or is already stocked in our mental stockpile. Because a Kṛṣṇa conscious person does not have to accept a future gross body, his recorded desires are fulfilled in a dream. We therefore sometimes find things in a dream never experienced in our present life.

SB 4.29.71 Purport
Because of our ignorance of the spiritual body, of which we have no experience, we do not know of the activities of the spiritual body, and in ignorance we jump from one false platform to another. We act sometimes in relation to the gross body and sometimes in relation to the subtle body. If, by Kṛṣṇa’s grace, we act in our spiritual body, we can transcend both the gross and subtle bodies. In other words, we can gradually train ourselves to act in terms of the spiritual body. As stated in the Nārada-pañcarātra, hṛṣīkeṇa hṛṣīkeśa-sevanaṁ bhaktir ucyate: devotional service means engaging the spiritual body and spiritual senses in the service of the Lord. When we are engaged in such activities, the actions and reactions of the gross and subtle bodies cease.

SB 4.29.77 Purport
After the mind is completely absorbed in Kṛṣṇa consciousness, one can enter the planet known as Goloka Vṛndāvana. To enter the association of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, one has to understand Kṛṣṇa. The process of understanding Kṛṣṇa is devotional service. After understanding Kṛṣṇa as He is, one can become eligible to enter Kṛṣṇaloka and associate with Him. The mind is the cause of such an exalted position. The mind can also get one a body like those of dogs and hogs. To absorb the mind always in Kṛṣṇa consciousness is therefore the greatest perfection of human life.

Husband Wife Interactions must be centered around Lord Krishna else there will be attachment

From Srila Prabhupada's purport to SB 4.28.18 where Puranjana is about to die thinking about his wife
King Purañjana was anxiously thinking, “Alas, my wife is encumbered by so many children. When I pass from this body, how will she be able to maintain all these family members? Alas, she will be greatly harassed by thoughts of family maintenance.”

All these thoughts of one’s wife indicate that the King was overly engrossed with the thoughts of woman. Generally a chaste woman becomes a very obedient wife. This causes a husband to become attached to his wife, and consequently he thinks of his wife very much at the time of death. This is a very dangerous situation, as is evident from the life of King Purañjana. If one thinks of his wife instead of Kṛṣṇa at the time of death, he will certainly not return home, back to Godhead, but will be forced to accept the body of a woman and thus begin another chapter of material existence.

From Srila Prabhupada's purport to SB 4.28.19

King Purañjana then began to think of his past dealings with his wife. He recalled that his wife would not take her dinner until he had finished his, that she would not take her bath until he had finished his, and that she was always very much attached to him, so much so that if he would sometimes become angry and chastise her, she would simply remain silent and tolerate his misbehavior.
Purport:
A wife is always supposed to be submissive to her husband. Submission, mild behavior and subservience are qualities in a wife which make a husband very thoughtful of her. For family life it is very good for a husband to be attached to his wife, but it is not very good for spiritual advancement. Thus Kṛṣṇa consciousness must be established in every home. If a husband and wife are very much attached to one another in Kṛṣṇa consciousness, they will both benefit because Kṛṣṇa is the center of their existence. Otherwise, if the husband is too much attached to his wife, he becomes a woman in his next life. The woman, being overly attached to her husband, becomes a man in her next life. Of course, it is an advantage for a woman to become a man, but it is not at all advantageous for the man to become a woman.
